It's Been A While & Did You Ever Wonder?

It's Been A While:

One thing about maintaining a blog is that you've got to maintain it. I've not been very good about doing that!

Yet, I have been writing: Poems, essays, pieces in Addy Indy's Ways of Seeing column, daily journals. Writing starts my mornings and shapes my days.

Publishing - as in posting to this blog - that's been an issue. Now that I have a summer break from reading other people's writing, I'll see if I can create a new habit.

Did You Ever Wonder?

I frequently use the Merlin app to identify the numerous birds that live on my property. I often wonder if they know when I'm clicking on to the app. Because just as I'm doing so, they all stop chirping.

Okay. I know that sounds weird but yeah it's happened more than once. For instance, the tufted titmouse was singing its heart out until I pulled out my smartphone and ... it stopped. I'm inside and away from windows so...

One one level I'm not serious and on another it's an interesting concept. What if birds could detect when you were trying to identify them or tape their songs? Makes a good story for someone interested in pursuing it.
