Meet Your Old Self

Sometimes, you have to remember that you are more than enough. I was sitting on my living room couch (which I love!) thinking about transitions and - more to the point - thinking about the stuff that I have not accomplished.

I have recognized that I write well, but I have not recognized that I write well enough. Those of you who are writers know what I mean.

For some reason, I decided to read a 2011 commencement speech that I offered to Goddard College Individualized MA graduates. As I read it, I reacquainted myself to myself. I appreciated what I said about Hopkins, Bambara, and the students who were launching themselves away from Goddard having reacquainted themselves with themselves.

Sometimes, I forget that I am a writer, a thinker, a person who loves the world and the people in it. This speech reminds me: Windovers, Whole Truths & The World of Tomorrow.
