Nourishing Practices

Meditation is one of the few practices that I've maintained for consecutive years. Yoga is another one. Reading is one, as well. I mean, reading for pleasure, not just for work or out of necessity. As I write this, I realize that I do a lot of things out of necessity, duty, because I want people to think well of me. But meditating, yoga, reading, these I do because they nourish my spirit. There are probably others, but these came to mind after this morning's meditation.
This morning, I'm committing to another practice: Remembering that this world is wonderful. I'm not planning to ignore the tensions in this country, or the problems on this planet. I'm doing my part to help mitigate these. And, I enjoy listening to birds going about their bird-business. As the world tumbles, the songs of an ovenbird, cardinal, and chickadee remind me that there are joys to embrace today in this wonderful world.
Happy Thursday!
